Pipe Services International’s hydrolazing service is an advanced high-pressure water jetting process which can effectively clean piping systems of mill-scale, construction debris, and process deposits. Hydrolazing can also be used to clean other critical plant components such as heat exchanger tubing. PSI uses the most advanced high pressure pumps in the world. These pumps are designed so that the engine rpms are calibrated to the pressure design which means that the minimum amount of fuel is consumed during operation, it also means that the system is unnecessarily generating hot water that goes back reducing the run time and potentially shutting the entire system down due to overheating. PSI uses the original Veltrup Roto-Fan System. The VRFS was the first ID rotating system ever developed and has maintained its supreme position as the most highly engineered rotating hose system in the world.
PSI employs the most advanced hydrolazing equipment available based on sound engineering practices and years of experience managing and performing hydrolazing work. Hydrolazing is high pressure water jetting technique that uses high pressure (15,000 psi) created through a tri-plex pump diesel (500hp+) driven pump. The pump and engine are contained in a fully enclosed noise suppressing container which minimizes disruption to the surrounding work area. High pressure water is then transferred through a hose to a rotating hose device. The rotating hose is fed through a calibrated feed mechanism device in order to control the feed rate necessary to achieve the cleaning specification. The high pressure nozzles are specifically designed according to the access points and inner diameter of the pipe systems being cleaned and the foulants in those systems. The cleaning is performed at the nozzle as the resulting heat transfer creates a small thermal expansion at the point of impact that is then flooded with 15,000psi at designated cutting angles which then separate even the most stringent adherents from the pipe strata. The debris falls into the resultant effluent which moves the contaminant out of the system through the nearest evacuation point. This is a system is capable of traveling in excess of one thousand feet through multiple directional changes, up to 15, while traveling through the piping system. This give PSI the unique ability to minimize the necessary entry points into any system in order to clean it.
Typically PSI designs it cleaning procedures for the capture and reuse of the original water. This helps mitigate issues regarding water quality and availability on projects and is line with the PSI ethos of using the fewest resources in the least amount of time to get the specified result. We deploy external temporary tanks, filters, pumps and hoses to maintain consistent water level. All of the effluent is captured in temporary vessels at rhe designed evacuation points and then pumped back to the temporary holding tank(s) which are setup in a weir design as the filtering process begins. Using oversized tanks gives the water time to cool before being recycled.
Depending on the system and the cleaning specification, hydrolazing can be used either as the primary method of achievement or in combination with other methods that together reduce the overall resource and time consumption.
For example overall cleaning times and associated costs with services such as steam blowing and air blowing can be reduced to verification processes rather than expensive cleaning and verification processes.
Hydrolazing can also be used as a replacement for services such as chemical cleaning whenever it is applicable. Hydrolazing requires less time and has zero environmental impact and achieves a cleanliness comparable or better than chemical cleaning at a lower cost. If passivation is required then the drying of cleaned systems followed by the application of a corrosion inhibitor can be accomplished or the corrosion inhibitor can directly applied through the Hydrolaze system. Hydrolaze is an invaluable tool for surface preparation and maintaining project schedule.
